Ham Lake

Location:

This lake is located east of Highway 65 and north of 153rd Street N.E. in the City of Ham Lake. 

Species Present:

Northern Pike: average abundance, small average size.
Largemouth Bass:above average abundance, average size with some larger bass present.
Bluegill: above average abundance, average size.
Crappie: average abundance, smaller than average size.

 

Boat Access:

The boat access is located within Ham Lake County Park. The entrance to the park is just east of Highway 65 off 153rd Street N.E. 

Shore Fishing:

There is a fishing pier in the county park adjacent to the boat ramp. Shore angling is impaired at other locations because of dense vegetation growth for most of the season. 

Management Plans:

  1. Fisheries standard lake survey in 2027.
  2. Monitor winter oxygen levels and operation of an aeration system by Anoka County as needed to prevent winterkill. 

Aquatic Invasive Species Alert:

This lake contains Eurasian watermilfoil. Remove any visible plants from your boat, trailer, or other boating equipment before leaving the lake. 

Comments:

Largemouth Bass brings most anglers to Ham Lake, though, most bass anglers are often frustrated by the abundant population of small Northern Pike present in this lake. Bluegills are abundant, but small to average sized.
