Keller and Spoon Lake

Location:

Keller Lake is located near the intersection of Highway 61 and Highway 36 in Maplewood. The portion of the lake which lies north of Highway 36 is commonly referred to as Spoon Lake. 

Species Present:

Walleye: low in abundance, average size. Walleye found here are from Phalen Lake or Lake Gervais.
Largemouth Bass: lower than average abundance, average size.
Bluegill: higher than average in abundance, average size.
Crappie: average abundance, average size.
Bullhead species: average abundance, average size.
Yellow Perch: lower than average abundance, average size.
 

Boat Access:

Access to this lake is located on Spoon Lake. Travel north on Arcade Street from Roselawn to reach the site. 

Shore Fishing:

This lake has an abundance of shore fishing opportunities. The entire shoreline of Spoon Lake and the eastern shore of Keller Lake lie within Keller Lake Regional Park operated by Ramsey County. There are shore fishing benches installed on Spoon Lake. Parking is abundant on both basins.

Aquatic Invasive Species Alert:

This lake contains Eurasian watermilfoil. Remove any visible plants from your boat, trailer, or other boating equipment before leaving the lake.

Comments:

Keller/Spoon is one of the most popular shore fishing lakes in the area. Access is easy, parking is plentiful and the fish generally bite well. Bluegill and Crappie are the targets for most anglers here.
