Location:
Wabasso is located just north of Lake Owasso in Shoreview.
Species Present:
Northern Pike: average abundance, average size.
Largemouth Bass: lower than average abundance, smaller than average size.
Bluegill: above average abundance, smaller than average size.
Black Crappie: low abundance, average size.
Bullhead species: average abundance, average size.
Yellow Perch: low abundance, small average size.
Boat Access:
The county owned access is located on the north side of North Owasso Blvd. west of Rice Street. This is a small facility and may not be suitable for larger boats.
Shore Fishing:
There are no suitable areas to fish from shore on this lake. Heavy vegetation growth and wooded public shoreline would present severe restrictions on anyone attempting to fish here.
Management Plans:
- Monitor winter oxygen level as needed.
Aquatic Invasive Species Alert:
This lake contains Eurasian watermilfoil. Remove any visible plants from your boat, trailer, or other boating equipment before leaving the lake.
Comments:
Wabasso has had declining water quality in recent years resulting in occasional winterkills The last time was in 2001. This is a small lake best suited to small boat anglers. Bass fishing can be good if winterkill events can be avoided. Panfish are abundant but small. Access can be difficult during low water periods.
