This stream is a tributary of the Vermillion River running from Lakeville to Farmington.
Species Present:
Brown Trout: average abundance, average size with an occasional lunker.
Rainbow Trout: lower than average abundance, average size.
Accessibility:
There are two areas with public access. One is located on either side of Cedar Avenue, just south of Lakeville Avenue/Dakota County 50. The other is located at Flagstaff Avenue, south of Dakota County 50 and extends downstream approximately 0.25 miles.
Management Plans:
- Re-survey/population assessment every three years at the same time the main stem of the Vermillion River is sampled.
Comments:
A large part of South Creek has been channelized into ditch over the years. Two stretches of the stream were naturalized as a cooperative project between the DNR and the City of Lakeville. The stream is small, but some large trout have been sampled in it.
