Cool air settled in over the northland on October 3 with temperatures dipping into the low 20's in many places in northeast Minnesota. International Falls set a record low of 20 degrees for October 3, breaking the old record of 23 set in 1999. The coldest place found was Embarrass with 18 degrees. No low temperature of 32 degrees has been reported yet at the Twin Cities International Airport this fall. The average date of the first frost (defined as the first date of 32 degrees or colder) at the Twin Cities International Airport is October 7.
