The cool summer of 2009 continues with a chilly morning across northern Minnesota on July 13. The coldest temperature found on July 13 was 34 degrees in Embarrass, just missing the statewide record for July 13, which is 32 degrees at Brimson 1E in 1990. International Falls had its coldest first half of July on record with an average temperature of 57.8 degrees from July 1-14, 2009. The Twin Cities has fared better with the average temperature for the first 14 days of July just few degrees colder than normal, the 26th coolest in the past 72 years.
