No April Fool's Joke here... April 1st continued the very warm weather with record maximum temperature records being set throughout central and southern Minnesota. A warm front was draped across central Minnesota with mild air in the 50's and 60's north of the front, and very warm 70's and 80's to the south of the front. The warmest temperature found in the state was 85 degrees at Blue Earth.
The Twin Cities International Airport hit 81 degrees, coming up just short of the long term record of 82 set back in 1882. St. Cloud had a temperature of 77 degrees, smashing the old record of 67 degrees set in 1925. Rochester reached 83 degrees, breaking the old record of 75 set in 1981. Duluth tied the record of 62 degrees, that was set in 1955.
The warm weather has hastened ice out across the state, with White Bear Lake losing its ice today, 11 days earlier than average.
