On May 24-25, The weather over Minnesota continued to be influenced by a slow moving cold front with a strong area of low pressure over North Dakota. Heavy rains fell over northwest Minnesota later on the 24th, into the early morning hours of the 25th. The heavy rains caused township roads to flood in eastern Pennington, Red Lake and Marshall Counties. The most rain reported so far was near Goodridge in eastern Pennington County with 5.50 inches. The Red Lake River near High Landing rose 5.4 feet in 24 hours, but stayed below flood stage.
A strong line of winds from stalled thunderstorms over eastern South Dakota swept across Minnesota during the overnight hours and brought much drier air. This line of winds reached the Twin Cities around 3am and the dew point temperature dropped 16 degrees at the Twin Cities International Airport from a muggy 66 at 3am to a tolerable 50 by 4am. The brief, gusty winds did cause some isolated damage. A tree fell on a home in Grove City in Meeker County.
