Severe Storms - May 19, 2012

After a hot and muggy afternoon, strong storms move across the Twin Cities.

Strong thunderstorms developed across Minnesota during the afternoon and evening of Saturday, May 19th. Some of these storms became severe with hail the size of quarters over Bloomington and Apple Valley. The largest hail reported was golf ball size on the western side of St. Paul. Penny sized hail fell at the Twin Cities International Airport. Many places around the Twin Cities saw pea to dime-sized hail. There was also some wind damage with these storms too with tree damage in the town of Elrosa in Stearns County. See the NOAA Storm Prediction Center's Storm Reports for more information.
