During the late evening hours of Tuesday, June 25 and the early morning hours of Wednesday, June 26, law enforcement reported exceptionally heavy rainfall in northwest Wilkin County. A total of 8.25 inches of rain was measured in Wolverton, leading to widespread flooding in and around that community. According to NOAA Atlas 14 Precipitation Frequency Estimates for Minnesota, a 24-hour rainfall total of 8.25 inches in that area has an average recurrence interval of 500 years.
