Heavy rains fell in a wide swath of Minnesota on September 18th associated with low pressure and a cool front. For the most part the rain as welcome, especially across parched areas of central Minnesota. The rain was heaviest in Northern St. Louis County where an estimated three to five inches fell. At 8pm on September 18th two to three feet of water was reported over Highway 169, 1 mile east of Grand Rapids. The floodwaters quickly receded as the rain ended. The highest reported amount of precipitation from this event was 3.64 inches 4 miles south of Bruno in Pine County. Mercifully, the rains largely missed the already soaked southeast corner of Minnesota.
