Very warm and muggy air for September arrived in Minnesota with gusty southerly winds. This, combined with cool Canadian air moving in from the northwest, triggered severe thunderstorms across central and southern Minnesota on Saturday, September 16th, 2006. A tornado hit Rogers at 9:58pm. 200 to 300 homes were damaged and 50 were destroyed. There was one fatality.
