Rogers Tornado and Severe Thunderstorm Event: September 16, 2006

Very warm and muggy air for September arrived in Minnesota with gusty southerly winds. This, combined with cool Canadian air moving in from the northwest, triggered severe thunderstorms across central and southern Minnesota on Saturday, September 16th, 2006. A tornado hit Rogers at 9:58pm. 200 to 300 homes were damaged and 50 were destroyed. There was one fatality.             THE F2 TORNADO WAS 8 MILES. FROM 3.5 MILES WEST OF 
            DOWNTOWN ROGERS TO THE CITY OF DAYTON...THEN CONTINUED 
            EAST ACROSS THE MISSISSIPPI RIVER TO THE CITY OF RAMSEY. 
            THE TORNADO HAD A MAXIMUM WIDTH OF 100 YARDS. KSTP TV 
            REPORTED 200-300 HOMES DAMAGED...WITH 50 DETROYED. ONE 
            FATALITY ALSO REPORTED WITH STORM IN THE CITY OF ROGERS.
