Welcome to the Lac qui Parle State Park virtual tour! In this journey you'll investigate the map shelter display, cabins and campgrounds. You'll enjoy the scenic Lac qui Parle Lake overlook and sandy swimming beaches to swim, as well as a boat launch to access the lake. We hope it prompts you to visit the park in person sometime soon.
Beach – Swimming Area
A park visitor pulls a canoe onto the beach and swimming area, where the sandy beach is dotted by smooth rock formations. Located next to the picnic area, this beach is a great place to relax and have fun by the scenic Lac qui Parle Lake.
Boat Ramp
The cement boat ramp leads up to a dock that extends into the 5,000 acre Lac qui Parle Lake. The boat ramp is located on the west edge of the park, down the shore from the picnic area and swimming beach. From here, boaters can get on the water for recreation or to fish for the walleye and catfish in the lake.
Map Shelter
The open map shelter sits on a partially shaded clearing amongst trees in the lower campground. Inside is an interpretive display where visitors can learn about the park and surrounding area.

Through the center of the map shelter, a three-dimensional map of Lac qui Parle State Park is laid out on a long table.
Lower Campground
A picnic table and fire ring furnish this partially shaded campsite in the lower campground. The campground is located in the southern part of the park in a floodplain forest setting and has 24 sites, some with electricity. There is a shower building in the campground, as well as two open picnic shelters.
Lac qui Parle Lake Overlook
An interpretive sign provides area information to visitors who stop at this hill overlooking Lac qui Parle Lake. The lake was formed when Glacial River Warren carved out the Minnesota River Valley, shaping natural dams where water gathered to create large lakes.
Camper Cabin
A camper cabin is situated on a hill prairie offering a view of Lac qui Parle Lake. A wooden boardwalk leads to the front door. The park has three camper cabins, all heated and available year-round.
Camper Cabin Interior
Inside the camper cabin, a table is placed against the window next to a single-over-double bunk bed. Two of Lac qui Parle State Park's camper cabins sleep six people; the third is wheelchair accessible and sleeps five people.
Upper Campground Showers
The Upper Campground modern shower building is located in a wide open area next to a parking lot. This building has showers and flush toilets, which are available seasonally.
Park Office
Inside the office, wildlife interpretive displays crowd the walls and display cases. The office also contains a nature store, restrooms, meeting room and campground registration information. Naturalist programs are held here occasionally throughout the summer; firewood is available for sale year-round.
