Snapshot virtual tour
Welcome to the Moose Lake State Park virtual tour! In this journey you'll peek inside the Agate Center, meander along the Echo Trail, and check out the swimming beach, fishing pier and boat launch. We hope it prompts you to visit the park in person sometime soon.
Visitor center
This center is located at the entrance to the park and is the hub of park activities. The center's beautiful exterior stonework appropriately composed of native glacial field stone, hint at the geological treasures awaiting visitors just inside the entrance doors.
Picnic area
Adjacent to the beach, this picnic site offers great lake views and cool breezes for a backdrop to your bag lunch or cookout.
Echo Trail - west
This loop trail heading west from the picnic/beach area follows the lakeshore briefly and then ascends to a wooded trail overlooking Echo Lake. Splendid sunrise vistas await the early morning hiker.
Accessible fishing pier
This accessible pier has a paved trail leading out to a "T"-shaped platform pier. This is a great spot for kids and adults alike to cast or bobber fish for sunfish, bass or crappies. You may also be surprised by a hungry northern pike or a big largemouth bass for which the lake is known.
Echo Trail - east
This trail heads east from picnic/beach area and hugs the north shore of Echo Lake shoreline while offering good shoreline fishing for panfish. Playful otters and loons frequent this area and are often visible to the quiet hiker.
Boat launch
This public boat ramp provides excellent access for smaller to medium sized watercraft and also is the staging site for the park's boat, canoe, and kayak rentals. Please stop at park office to check out and rent a boat. (This is one of the best fall color areas in the park with excellent reflections and early morning fog.)
Campground
With 35 campsites, Moose Lake State Park offers 20 electric and 15 non electric wooded sites all within walking distance to the park's visitor center, beach, fishing pier, and boat rentals.
Campsite
This semi-modern campground offers space for larger RVs and trailers along with 2 walk-in sites for a more secluded camping experience.
Wildlife pond
Looking to add a few birds to your list? Wander along the wildlife pond trail loops to catch glimpses of migrating colorful warblers, nesting ducks, geese and trumpeter swans. Butterfly watching opportunities abound in the meadows, field edges and hardwood stands. The Canadian tiger swallowtail, northern pearly eye and mourning cloak are a few of many colorful butterflies to enjoy.
Visitor center interior
Once inside, guests will find park staff waiting to assist visitors with information for planning their visit. Agate Center exhibits, restrooms, a Nature Store gift shop and a multi-purpose classroom are among the facilities available to each visitor. Please look for the eye-catching stone inlay set in the floor at the entrance to the Agate Center Exhibit Hall.
Agate Center
Enjoy the beauty and wonder of Lake Superior Agates through the informative displays and excellent collections in this exhibit hall.
Swimming beach
Located walking distance from the campground, this clean, sandy beach spot is just right for campers, day users, or travelers heading through looking for a quick swim.
Tall Pine Trail
Listen to the wind through the tops of towering pines while strolling along this 40 year old pine plantation. Look for clues to timber resource management practices in this stand.
