District 13 - West Metro area

Last updated: 2025-05-19

CO Brent Grewe (Minnetonka) spent the week patrolling station lakes, conducting AIS checks, and monitoring boating activity. Grewe served a restoration order on a wetland case and followed up on a trapping complaint. Violations this week included expired boat registration and untagged trap.

CO Ben Ulrich (Osseo) spent the week working angling and boating enforcement. Time was also spent assisting Scott County deputies with boat training, as well as working the late otter registration. Some violations encountered included no license in possession, angling without a license, illegal-length northern pike, and multiple watercraft violations.

CO Thephong Le (ELCOP) patrolled the Mississippi and Minnesota rivers for angling and boating activities. He worked in Carver and Scott counties for ORV activity. He encountered anglers who were fishing without a license and had no fishing license in possession.

CO Kylan Hill (Mound) reports continued sport fishing and boating safety work throughout the station. This week saw a lot of anglers fishing without licenses. One angler quickly dropped their rod and reel onto the fishing pier as Hill approached. They sat down, began looking at their phone, and seemed confused as to why Hill was accusing them of fishing. They later admitted to the violation and took their ticket. Another angler was cited for utilizing two extra lines even though they tried explaining that they have been fishing in Minnesota for over 20 years and did not know they could only use one line. Cease and desist orders were issued for an in-progress wetland disruption.

CO Alexander Birdsall (Waconia) spent the past week patrolling the station for angling activity. Additionally, assistance was given to the Scott County Sheriff?s Office for watercraft operation training. Deputies and COs practiced patrol techniques and emergency response.

CO James Fogarty (Prior Lake) spent the week at Camp Ripley teaching at the CO Academy. Plenty of use of force and firearms training was had by all.

Ft. Snelling vacant.
