The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources Enforcement Division's K9 unit has five handler/dog teams that have increased the Division's effectiveness and efficiency in detecting fish and game violations, the presence of aquatic invasive species, evidence recovery, officer protection, and location of missing persons. The K9 teams are uniquely trained to accomplish the various tasks required of a conservation law enforcement officer in Minnesota and are readily available to assist other law enforcement agencies when needed. Along with all of the other duties that conservation officers are required to accomplish, the teams are required to receive ongoing training that demands an immense amount of dedication to the Unit. This dedication and effort that the officers put forth daily has resulted in a K9 Unit that Minnesota can be proud of.
