Weekly CO report

District 14 - East Metro area

Last updated: 2024-11-04

CO Garrett Thomas (Eagan) spent time checking local anglers and hunters. Time was also spent working on ongoing investigations and handling TIP calls. Many violations related to waterfowl hunting, fishing, and deer feeding were dealt with.

CO Tony Salzer (Ham Lake) patrolled Anoka County for big-game and waterfowl-hunting activity. With drastic weather changes over the past week, it appears as deer activity has picked up, but hunters still report mixed reports on waterfowl activity. Salzer also conducted commercial inspections in the Anoka County area and worked with attorney offices regarding upcoming cases.

CO Scott Arntzen (Forest Lake) spent the week working several TIP calls regarding hunter harassment, trespassing and trapping. He also fielded many questions about the recently opened Keystone Woods WMA, which has now been added to the DNR website, so most inquiries can now be answered from this site. Violations for the week included trespassing, no federal/state waterfowl stamps, parking in prohibited areas and no license in possession.

CO Steve Chihak (Hastings) spent the week working small-game, migratory waterfowl, and deer-hunting activity. He assisted a neighboring officer on a trumpeter swan shooting investigation. Time was also spent responding to miscellaneous wildlife-related calls.

CO Matt Paavola (White Bear Lake) spent the week patrolling for waterfowl, small-game, and deer-hunting activity. Ongoing big-game cases were investigated through the week and license violations were addressed. Assistance was provided to other agencies and TIP calls were investigated.

CO Tou Vang (ELCOP-Hmong) staffed a DNR Enforcement booth at the Rockford High School Career Fair for 8th-12th graders and assisted with Enforcement Division training at Camp Ripley.

Metro Officer vacant.
