Weekly CO report

District 15 - Marshall area

Last updated: 2024-11-04

CO Dustin Roemeling (Worthington) and COC Bobby Stringer spent the week working angling, waterfowl enforcement, small-game enforcement, and archery enforcement. Various hunting related incidents were responded to and investigated. Enforcement action was taken for hunting related issues and for illegal OHM operation.

CO Matt Loftness (Marshall) spent the week working pheasant, waterfowl, and archery deer hunting enforcement. Time was also spent working fall fishing activity. Most of the area received some well needed moisture in the form of rain or snow midweek. Hunting related investigations continued to be worked. The most common question this week dealt with where, when, and how bonus permits can be used.

CO Mason Bulthuis (Madison) focused on small-game hunting enforcement this week. Duck and pheasant hunters were checked throughout the area. Hunters continue to find mixed success. Bulthuis also spent time assisting other local law enforcement agencies and conducting commercial enforcement.

CO Dallas Cornell (Ortonville) spent the week patrolling for sport fishing, migratory waterfowl, and big-game activity. Several migratory waterfowl hunters were checked throughout the week with the cooler, wet weather bring in more waterfowl into the area. The fall walleye bite is still in full swing with several limits seen being caught.

CO Derek Daniels (Lake Benton) worked angling, small-game, and deer-hunting enforcement this past week. Many hunters are having decent success after finally getting some moisture in the area. Enforcement action for the week included license violations and deer-registration violations.

CO Luke Gutzwiller (Montevideo) spent time working commercial enforcement as well as small- and big-game-hunting activity. K9 Earl assisted with evidence-related searches. Area officers continue to work proactive enforcement involving illegal shining/taking in the area.

CO Shawn Wichmann (Slayton) continued to monitor angling and hunting activity throughout the week. Reports of miscellaneous wildlife-related calls were received and fielded. Numerous pheasant hunters were checked throughout the week. They were having limited success.

CO Levi Brown (Benson) saw a lot of deer and pheasant activity this last week in his area. He focused his efforts on small-game hunters and archery hunters hoping to fill a tag before the firearms season kicks off. Brown took enforcement action for people hunting without the proper licenses.
