Weekly CO report

District 16 - New Ulm area

CO Shane Vernier (Willmar-West) spent time working on angling and AIS activity. He reminded anglers that bass season is catch-and-release only until May 24. Vernier also followed up on a deer-hunting violation.

CO Cassie Block (Willmar-East) spent time this week attending K9 training. Block focused efforts on AIS enforcement by following up with reported violations and working with her K9 partner. Time was also spent patrolling for angling and ATV activity.

CO Nicholas Klehr (Litchfield) spent the week checking anglers and boating safety. Other time was spent on a wildfire investigation to determine a cause for how the fire started. An AIS check station in Hutchinson was also worked. He also checked turkey hunters and OHV operators at the Meeker County OHV Park.

CO Brett Wiltrout (Hutchinson-West) spent time this week working on ATV and sport fishing activity. Other activities included boat and water safety and commercial inspections. Other patrol efforts included AIS and fire investigations.

CO Zachary Larson (Hutchinson-East) assisted another officer with an investigation regarding a possible aquatic invasive species violation. Patrol efforts were focused on fishing and turkey hunting activities.

CO Travis Cain (Windom) spent the week working angling, boating, and turkey hunting activity. Cain attended a youth fishing event in Mountain Lake where multiple youth were able to catch their first fish. He also patrolled public accesses, wildlife management areas, and area lakes/rivers.

CO Eric Schettler (Fairmont) checked anglers and watercraft. High winds and cooler weather had a huge impact on the number of anglers out. Public water accesses were patrolled. Aquatic vegetation has grown dramatically on some lakes and users were reminded to take time to clear the vegetation from their water-related equipment.
