CO Ryan Christenson (Rochester #2) spent the week checking archery deer hunters and taking trespassing complaints. Time was also spent answering questions regarding the upcoming firearms season.

CO Mitch Boyum (Rushford) reports responding to multiple calls about the upcoming deer season. Boyum checked archery hunters in the area. Hunters reported deer movement was slow. Violations encountered were unregistered deer, taking deer out of CWD zone, and failure to tag deer. Time was also spent checking small-game hunters and investigating trespass calls.

CO Tyler Ramaker (La Crescent) responded to a situation in which a hunter shot a buck on state land, and it ran onto adjacent private property. The landowner would not allow the hunter to retrieve the buck. Officers located the buck a short distance over the property line, recovered it, and donated the meat. Hunters should consider not hunting close to property boundaries and/or securing permission to retrieve game prior to pulling the trigger.
