2023 Small shooting range grant

Small shooting range grants: from $2,500 to $25,000

Program purpose:

To increase outdoor shooting range capacity for youth shooters and the general public by providing matching grant funds to recreational shooting clubs open for public use.

Eligible projects:

Projects that develop, expand, improve or upgrade existing trap or skeet, rifle/pistol ranges, and 5 stand shooting ranges. Creating new shooting ranges in rural portions of the state will be a priority.

Who may apply:

Local recreational shooting clubs in Minnesota allow public access to shoot at their facilities. A facility provided these funds must be open to the general public at reasonable times for a reasonable fee on a walk-in basis for a period of time of not less than 20 years after project completion.

Scoring:

Grant applications will be scored based on project location and need, the financial contributions of funding partners and the applicant, and the feasibility of the project.

Level of assistance:

The Small Shooting Range Grant (SSRG) program provides grants from $2,500 to $25,000 in grant size for listed projects. The grants must be matched 1:1.

All grantees must comply with the State of Minnesota grant laws and policies. These $200,000 in funds are from a 2023 legislative appropriation. Funding will be provided in a first come, first served process and through 06/30/2024.

Use the application form supplied in this Small Shooting Range Grant Application Packet and include all documentation you want included when you submit your application. The materials and documentation must be submitted on standard 8-1/2 x 11-sized paper. Use the application as formatted and attach any additional information as attachments.

Completed grant applications will be funded on a first-come, first-served basis. All work funded now will need to be completed by June 30. 2025.
